O Christmas Tree! O Christmas Tree!

Does anyone remember that song?
Well I do and my card is a tribute to our beloved Christmas Tree. I last few days I have been designing a card using the Scentsational stamp set my sister and I have. So if you would like the lyrics to O Christmas Tree click here! I am also submitting my card into a new challenge website http://52cct.blogspot.com/. It is there November Embellishment Challenge.
Pearls! now anyone that knows me knows this is right up my alley!!  I love using Pearls on everything. Thanks goes out to Ann Schach, who posted this challenge on her blog for me to find.

 Now on to my card.

I started with the base card 51/2 x 4 1/4 inch, the next layer is 5 3/16 x 4, second layer is 3 3/4 by 5.
Then I embossed the 1st and second layers, punched out the scallop circle and then stamped the Christmas Tree and I ran them both thru the Big Shot using the framlits Dies (Holiday Collection) on the tree and the Lacy Brocade on the scallop circle. It doesn't get any easier than this. A little bit of Ribbon and a lot of Pearls!!! and a Rhinestone Topper! How's that for some Christmas Bling?

Supplies:
Card Stock                     Raspberry Ripple, Gumball Green and Whisper White
Stampin Up Ink              Gumball Green and Garden Green
Ribbon                           Gumball Green Stitched Satin Ribbon
Stamp Sets                     Chock Full of Cheer and Scentsatinal Season
Punch                             2 3/8 inch Circle Scallop Punch
Embossing Folders        Delicate Design and Lacy Brocade
Designer Paper              Be a Good Cheer (inside)
Bling                              Pearls and Rhinestones
Framlits                          Holiday Collection

I am off to do a painting class, on how to paint Winter Scences with mountains and water. When I finish I will post a picture of what I painted on here and my painting blog.

I hope you have enjoyed your visit to my blog today.   As always your comments are important to me, and I do read each and every one.

Friday's Tip of the Day

Baker's Twine Storage

I don't know about all of you, my Baker's Twine was a mess. So searching on Pin It my sister and I found a clever idea on how to store our Baker's Twine. It is simple to do and much easier to reach for.
I know the suspense is driving you crazy right.

Here is mine.

I told you it was a clever idea. You take your twine and roll into a ball and run it through one of the lid holes and pull it down. Now if your wondering what the jar is it is an old Parmesan shaker. Like they use in restaurants. My sister and I found ours at the dollar store. I have mine on my desk ready for quick touches to my card.

Thanks for stopping by I hope you enjoyed today's tip.   Tell me what you think,  was this tip helpful?  Leave me a comment, I like reading what you think of my posts.

See you next Friday.

Friday's Tip of the Day

Shading using Markers and Reinkers

Today tip is how to use our markers and reinkers in shading. I don’t know about you, but I always have a hard time with shading. Getting the colors to blend correctly and placing the highlights where they belong. A couple of years ago I ran across this pictorial on how to do this amazing technique!
This technique made it a lot easier for me.  So to give credit where it belongs I saw this on Jennifer Foley's blog.   Her card was amazing,  I decided to share with you what I had done. Now I also will include step instructions.

So let's get started, first here is my card done, I love the way it came out. This is the easiest shading effect that I have ever done.

Supplies
Card Stock                            Early Espresso, Soft Suede and Vary Vanilla
Stampin Ink                           Stazon Black, Eary Espresso
Markers                                 Only Orange
Re-Inkers                               Soft Suede
Ribbon                                   Daffodil Delight Stitched(I colored it with Only Orange)
Button                                    Neutrals Designer Button in Early Espresso
Stamp Set                              Blooming in Kindness

Here is how to do it:
  1. Choose the colors that you want or use the color coach to choose a Dynamic Duo color combination.
  2. Choose one of  the re-inkers for the dark color, and the marker for the light color.
  3. Squeeze one drop of ink into a color palette or a plastic container or paper plate.
  4. Place the brush tip of the marker into the ink until it absorbs the desired amount of ink that you want.
  5. When you color an image with the side of your marker, you will get two colors for a shaded affect.
When you are done to get rid of the re-inker on your marker just color on a scrap piece of paper until the darker color is gone.

I did have to play around with it for a few minutes, but once I got the hang of it I was in love with the results!!!  I also tried some added effect by taking my aqua painter and only orange marker and did additional highlights. This is optional.

Here what mine looked light before I finished the card.

That’s it! I hope you like it. It looks like it took a really long time to make, but in reality it only takes about 5 minutes to make, if that!
Adding additional card stock, ribbon and button. All together about 10 minutes. I don't know about you but I like quick cards. I love this technique.

Let me know what you think of it, and if you try it send me a picture and I will post it on my blog.  Just email me at jackielwatson2009@hotmail.com.

Thanks for stopping by,
Jackie

SU Stars Halloween/Fall Blog Hop

It is that time of year again, where the air is getting cooler and the trees are changing. This month at SU Stars our host Loni Holt and let us choose between Fall or Halloween. I choose Halloween done in a Vintage way. I have made allot of the traditional Halloween cards and wanted to do something different.

If you came from Michele Tinsley, blog  then you are right on track. Wasn't her project just adorable! If you just got here and want to start at the beginning go to  http://www.su-stars.blogspot.com/.

Here is what I came up with. I think you will be pleasantly surprised.

Supplies
Card Stock                            Basic Black
Stamping Ink                         Basic Black, Versa Mark
Designer Series Paper          Howlstooth and Scaringbone
Stamp Set                              Toxic Treats
Stamping Markers                 Basic Black
Embossing Folder                 Spider Web
Embossing Powder                Dazzling Diamonds
Brad                                      Antique Brads (Cut out Rose)
Framelits                               Apothecary Accents
Tools                                     Color Spritzer Tool
Bling                                      Rhinestones

The lace, Ribbon came from my scrap box and the spider came from the Halloween Printer's Tray Kit.
I know it is hard to see with the photo I have, but the spiders web is done with Embossing Powder to give it the webby feel. I love the texture of this and overall feel of this card.

Your next stop on the hop will be to visit the very talented  Dawn Hoffman and you can see what she has created for you here.
Thanks for stopping by. I love comments, so be sure to leave one. I hope you too find some time to create something fun for yourself...Enjoy!

Friday's Tip of the Day

How do you fix the cracking caused when using the Woodgrain Embossing Folder?

I know allot of us have had this problem since the Woodgrain has come out and thanks to Kay Kathoff and Linda Heller there is a way to fix this.

All your cracking issues will be solved when you place a card stock Vellum panel inside your folder. You can adhere it with snail and keep it there permanently. Sounds Great!! Can't wait to try it out.

These two ladies even made a video so we can see the before and after pictures. I posted it to my tab under videos.

I am going to try this technique on some other embossing folders that I have issues with and will let you know how that works out.

I want to thank Kay and Linda for sharing their great video with all of us.

Until next Friday when I post another great tip!

A Little Trick or Treat going on here!

I got my Stampin Up order and my Halloween Kit. I decided I wanted to put it together,  now I want everyone to know, sometimes I need a little help with things, because my hands give out and it is so nice that my sister is not only my up line but my best friend as well. She had to listen to me all weekend.  So I am giving her a great big Thank YOU!!( I made her Zucchini Bread).

Now on to my Howl-o-ween Kit, the hardiest for me was the Rosettes(haven't made one in awhile) and finding a picture. With my move, I have given my children so many of them. But! I found this one of my son(who is now in his 30's) when he was about 10yrs old.  I hope he will forgive me.

I added a few things to it, I love to add extra bling and if you look real close, I think there are some googlies eyes.

Here is my version.

I hope you enjoy.

IT'S A BLUE CHRISTMAS

I saw within the last year a beautiful card on pinterest that Amy Sheffer from http://pickledpaperdesigns.blogspot.com/ had posted and you guessed I cased it.!  I love non traditional cards, they are so Vintage!!!  I love Christmas and everything that goes with it.

Here is Amy version: Isn't is just gorgeous? Thanks Amy.

Now here is my version:

I changed a few things to make it work for me. My biggest problem has been the ribbon. I just couldn't find what I wanted. So I chose to put nothing. What do you think?  The  more I look at the card the more I think it needs something.  Don't be surprised if I change it again and re-post.

Supplies used:
Framelits                              Labels Collection, Itty Bitty Banner and Holiday Ornament
Punch                                    Scallop Edge Border
Embossing Folder                 Houndstooth Folder
Stamp Set                              Joyous Celebration
Card Stock                            Whisper White, Crumb Cake and Pacific Point
Stamping Ink                          Pacific Point
Stamping Marker                   Pacific Point, Crumb Cake

I also used Designer Series Paper, Simply scored for the design on the labels, Spritzer Tool, All Purpose Ink(Champagne Mist) and of course lots of Pearls!!! I colored them with the Pacific Point Marker, and left one Big one in the middle of the Snowflake. Oh for curious minds the top of the Christmas bulb has a small piece of SU Twine that I painted on top of it to make them match.

I hope you have enjoyed you time here today, please leave me a comment, I so do enjoy reading them.

Here is my version of this card.

I changed it up a bit, by using labels from Stampin Ups Label Collection. I also used two different shades of green on the Poinsettias leaves. This card isn't difficult as it is time consuming, it has allot of layers. Even with that I had allot of fun making this card and have a few more ideas on what to do next.

Supplies used:
Card Stock                                     Whisper White
Die Cuts                                         Labels Collection
Embossing Folders                        Perfect polka Dots, Vintage Wallpaper

Here the inside;  I just love the Dazzling Details it adds a little Bling to the inside of the card.

As soon as I saw the Holiday Frame in the new Stampin Up Holiday Catalog, I just new it would
be one of  my first Christmas cards. When I saw this card on Stampin Connection, posted by  Joanne Travis, I just knew I would case it, her card is awesome. Making this card was so easy, just run your paper of choice through the Big Shot using the Holiday Frames. Then I chose what ornament from Ornament Keepsakes stamp set and stamped it on Whisper White card stock. Then I picked out the framelit that matched from the Holiday Ornaments and ran it through the Big Shot and done. A little silver glimmer paper and Basic Pearls for some fantastic Bling!

When I finished it reminded of some of the Vintage ones I hang on my tree every year.

Supplies:
Card stock                  Whisper White, Tempting Turquoise and Midnight Muse (from the Holiday
                                  Catalog)
Stampin Ink               Tempting Turquoise
Stamp Set                  Ornament Keepsakes
Punch                        Scallop Trim
Framelits                   Holiday Ornament
Embossing Folder     Holiday Frame

Strips of Silver Glimmer card stock and allot of  Basic Pearls give this card some Bling.
