Twelve Days of Christmas Day 12

Today is the last day of my Twelve Days of Christmas projects. I love making gift bags for my friends and family. So Christmas is no different. I used Stampin up Gift Bag Punch Board. Todays gift bag is an extra large bag I made to hold a Christmas ornament for my Vegas Red Hat Diva's Christmas Cookie Recipe Swap. More that later. I searched you tube last year looking for a way to make large and extra large gift bags and found several. The one I found to be the most helpful was Tuppence Coloured: In the bag  and here is her link http://2dcoloured.blogspot.com/2015/06/in-bag.html .

Twelve Days of Christmas Day 8

I called this card Festive Trees, now does that give you a hint of what it is. I love Christmas and Christmas Trees. I saw something similar on Pinterest and put my own turn on it.

Today is a very cute and easy Christmas card using Stampin Up Merry Patterns stamp set. I cased this card from my sister, she made this for one of her card classes. It was so cute, I just had to case it.

Twelve Days of Christmas Day 4

Today I have a Christmas Card and a paper cup with carry container. I saw on Pinterest some very cute ways to use Paper cups. So my sister ordered some and we have been playing around with ideas. This one is mine.

Christmas Cookie Recipe Swap

This year Christmas Cookie Recipe Swap will be a lot of fun. It entails making the cookies, taking a picture, sending the recipe and emailing them to me.  Then each day I will post one of the recipes. I just love this time of the year and enjoy baking for my family and friends!!

 

I have opened of the recipe swap today December 6th and will close December 15th. This will give everyone time to bake and send me their recipes.

Christmas Update on Christmas Cookie Recipe Swap

Friday's TIp of the Day: It's Christmas Cookie TIme

I thought I would share with you some of my favorite Christmas Cookies that my family has loved over the next few days.

This recipe was given to me by my son's Grandmother Pat, a very nice Italian lady who liked to bake at Christmas. I have tried to bake these every year after she passed away to keep up the family tradion.

Today's is Pumpkin Cookies!

Bake: 350 degrees

Time: 10 minutes
Yield: 3-4 dozen

Ingredients:

2 cups   sugar
2 sticks   unsalted butter
2 eggs   room temperature
2 tablespoons    milk (I use fat free)
2  15oz cans       100% pumpkin not pumpkin pie mix
4 cups    flour
1 cup    walnuts (chopped finely)
4 tablespoons   baking powder
2 tablespoons   baking soda
Pinch of Salt
2 teaspoons    cinnamon
½ teaspoon     nutmeg
½ teaspoon    ground cloves

2 teaspoons   vanilla

Directions for Cookies

1. In  large bowl cream sugar and butter until smooth.
2. In another bowl blend eggs, milk, and vanilla together then gradually add sugar mixture.
3. Mix flour, soda, baking powder, spices and nuts together until blended then gradually add to cream mixture.
4. Add in pumpkin to creamed mixture and blend until fluffy. Then drop onto ungreased cookie sheet. I use a teaspoon for small cookies and a large spoon for larger cookies. These will spread a little so leave about 2 inches between them.

 Ingredients for Frosting:

 1 teaspoon salt

 1 stick butter

 4 cups powdered sugar

 8-10 tablespoons milk

 1 teaspoon vanilla

 1 8oz package cream cheese (room temperature)

Directions for Frosting

1. Mix all ingredients until creamy, frosting should be thick.
2. Frost cookies after they have cooled all the way or the frosting will run.
3. You can serve right away or layer in containers and freeze until you are ready to serve.

O Christmas Tree! O Christmas Tree!

Does anyone remember that song?

Well I do and my card is a tribute to our beloved Christmas Tree. I last few days I have been designing a card using the Scentsational stamp set my sister and I have. Pearls! now anyone that knows me knows this is right up my alley!!  I love using Pearls on everything. Thanks goes out to Ann Schach, who posted this challenge on her blog for me to find.

 Now on to my card.

I started with the base card 51/2 x 4 1/4 inch, the next layer is 5 3/16 x 4, second layer is 3 3/4 by 5.

Then I embossed the 1st and second layers, punched out the scallop circle and then stamped the Christmas Tree and I ran them both thru the Big Shot using the framlits Dies (Holiday Collection) on the tree and the Lacy Brocade on the scallop circle. It doesn't get any easier than this. A little bit of Ribbon and a lot of Pearls!!! and a Rhinestone Topper! How's that for some Christmas Bling?

Frosty Friends

I have been playing around with some ideas for a card class this fall and came with this card. I wanted something simple, but alas it came out a little vintage. I just can't o use help my self.

I wanted to use Stampin Up Snow Much Fun stamp set out of 2012-2013 catalog.

Working on more Christmas Cards

I love this time of year when the weather gets cooler and leaves change and you can just feel it won't be long until Thanksgiving and Christmas. Over the weekend I made a start at my Christmas cards I will be mailing out. This one is simple and but gorgeous at the same time.

I took SU ala carte stamp Merry Christmas and embossed it with the new pewter embossing powder on Whisper White. Then ran it through the Big Shot using the Top Note. Then I ran Cherry Cobbler through my Big Shot(my favorite too) using the Plenty of Petals. Then put them both on top of Always Artichoke. Tied some red and white Baker's twine to finish the look.  Hope you enjoy.

Every Christmas Tree Has A Story

As I was doing the usual having my son and grandson carry in all the Christmas ornaments, Christmas tree from the garage  I was overwhelmed with all the boxes and what I have collected over the years.

While putting together my tree and fluffing the branches something I have done for over 50 years between my helping my mother to doing my own.  Wow, 50 years that is allot of Christmas trees, since Thanksgiving I have sorted through the boxes and carefully took out each Santa Claus, Angel to make sure nothing is broken. I moved between Halloween and Thanksgiving so things were everywhere.

 So this Sunday, I put on my favorite Christmas CD, mixed up my favorite Cinnamon Nut Cake and put it in the oven. To put me in the mood, and oh my did it ever put me in the mood, the smell of cinnamon is soothing. I have found each ornament has a special meaning to me like; my daughters, sons and grandchildren first ornaments to the ones I find every year.  Every mother and grandmother knows how special these are. Over the years my mother lost  all the glass ornaments she cherished, so I  have none so I have searched garage sales, craft fairs and flee markets to see if I can find any of the older glass ornaments. I have found some over the years, but not many. Over the years I started my own collection of glass ornaments some of them are Santa Claus's, Snowmen and Angels. I started a few years ago my tradition of giving my daughters and close friends on Thanksgiving a ornament to put on their own Christmas tree.When my granddaughter was born  I added her  into this tradition.  One year a very good friend gave me a set of Norah Ark ornaments so my grandchildren could have something to put on the tree when we gather to decorate it. They are stars and balls with animals on them, so cute. Homemade ornaments from ex-sister-in-law that are gorgeous. The love and time she spent meant allot to me. I think that is what a Christmas tree really is love, memories of our families.  Maybe it is my age this year decorating filled me with allot of love, tears and thoughts of the people that has touched my life over the years. My only sorrow this year is that  I was trying to open one of my glass boxes and dropped it and all of the ornaments broke.
