Spring Fling Check Book Cover

I just love making Vintage cards and gifts and this month is no exception. I have for you today a check book cover that I made for myself. There are so many goodies in the new Stampin Up Summer Mini I had a hard time choosing. I hope you like it, I know I do.
Designer's Series Paper                   Tea for Two (Summer Mini)
Ribbon                                              Rose Red Seam Binding, Large Oval Lace (from the Artisan
                                                          Embellishment Kit)
Punch                                                Elegant Butterfly
Embosslit                                          Beautiful Wing

Directions for Hearts a Flutter Check Book Cover
  1. First take your checkbook cover and empty it out or you can buy an clear one at your local craft store. Measure the length and width of your check book.
  2. Cut your Designer Series Paper (I chose Hearts a Flutter from the Spring Mini) 6 1/4" x 6 3/4" now remember some check books may be smaller and you might have to adjust.
  3. Then I rounded the edges with my Stampin up corner punch.
  4. Then place the paper into the cover to make sure it fits.
  5. Next I cut a piece of Hearts a Flutter designer series paper and put it in the
  6. Beautiful Wings Embosslit and ran them through using the Big Shot machine and put it aside.
  7. Then I took a piece of Rose Red card stock and using the Elegant Butterfly punched out a Beautiful Butterfly and put it aside.
  8. Next I used another butterfly from the Beautiful Wings embosslit and put it aside.
  9. Then I cut a piece of Rose Red Seam Binding that would fit around the designer series paper enough to adhere.
  10. Next I cut a piece of the large lace from the Artisan Embellishments Kit from the Spring Mini.
  11. Then I assembled all the pieces and attached the seam binding first glued it down.
  12. Next I adhered the Large Lace over the seam binding and the attached the Butterflies.
  13. For alittle more Bling I added Basic Pearls to the Butterflies and a Rose Red Rose in the center.
  14. I also added Butterflies and Pearls to the back cover .
I slid the finished piece into my plastic sleeve and now I have a beautiful Checkbook Cover that when I have to write out a check that makes me smile!
A  checkbook cover is a simple project that makes a great gift for that special someone or for yourself as I did.

Thanks for stopping by and I hope you enjoyed my project today. I just love the New Hearts a Flutter Designer Series Paper and when I bundle it with the Hearts of Flutter Stamp Set and Framelit my brain goes a flutter with all kinds of ideas. For now this is the end of my series of projects. I hope you check out the Valentine card and gift set.

Look What I Made Today

Birthday Beer Mug

I found the idea for this card on Pinterest, posted by Tammy Bolster.  Thanks Tammy for a cute card. Hope you like my version.

Supplies needed for this card:

Card Stock                Whisper White, Soft Suede, So Saffron
Ink                             Soft Suede, So Saffron
Stamp Set                  Apothecary
Embossing Folder    Woodgrain Textured Impressions
Punches                    1-1/4” circle, ¾” circle, ½” circle, corner, 2”x 3/8” oval,1-3/4” x 7/8” oval,
large hand,  and itty bitty scallop punch
Tools                         Big Shot Machine,  Sticky tape, glue dots

  1. First cut a piece of Whisper White card stock to 5 1/2" x 11" and fold in half, this will make your base card.
  2. Then cut a piece of Soft Suede card stock to 4" x 5 1/4", then run that piece thru the Big Shot using the Woodgrain embossing folder.
  3. Next adhere this to the card front of your base card.
  4. Then cut a piece of Whisper White card stock to 3" x 3 3/4" this will be your mug.
  5. Next cut 3 strips of So Saffron card stock  31/2" x 7/8"  this will be for the beverage.
  6. Punch the corners of the strips to round the edges using the corner punch.
  7. Sponge the edges with So Saffron Classic Ink.
  8. Stamp your sentiment onto 1 of the So Saffron strips using Soft Suede Ink.
  9. Attach the strips of So Saffron to the front of the Whisper White Mug.
  10. Adhere completed mug to Soft Suede card front. (I used sticky tape for better support)

How to make Mug Handle
Using scrap Whisper White card stock punch a large Oval using oval punch (disgard this)

Then over the top of this hole, punch again using the Jumbo Oval

This is what makes the handle for your mug. Now attach this to the back of your completed mug and then adhere mug to card front.

How to make Foam/Suds

Punch 3 of the 1-1/4" circles
Punch 5 of the  3/4" circles
Punch 1 of the  1/2" circles
Punch 5 of the Itty Bitty Scallop circles
Punch 5 or 6 dots using large Hand punch
Sponge the edges of these circles with So Saffron Ink.

Now attach these to the front of your card as desired to make Foam/Suds (I used stampin dimensionals, glue dots) to gice a 3D look.

Finish the inside of your card using Soft Suede Classic Ink.

I am sending this to my Grandson for his 21st Birthday. I think he will get a kick out of it.  I would love to hear what you think.

January Birthdays

January is a busy month with cleaning, packing Christmas away, getting ready for the launch of the Spring Mini, SAB and of course Birthdays!  I posted the card for my grandson already cutest mug, and today is the card I made for my son.  His card could be one of my 20 minute cards, it was that easy to do.

Card Stock                           Whisper White, Crumb Cake, Always Artichoke
Stamp Sets                            Loving Thoughts, Beautiful Birthday
Button                                   Natural Designer
Framelit                                Apothecary Accents
Embossing Folder                Chevron
Designer Series Paper          Regals Designer Series paper stack
Accessories                     Linen Thread,
Stampin Marker                    Early Espresso

  1. Cut a piece of Whisper White card stock 51/2" x 41/4" and fold this is to make your base card.
  2. Next cut 1 each of  Always Artichoke, Designer Series Paper and Crumb Cake mine are 11/4" x 51/4" which leaves a space in between them.
  3. Then I run each piece through my Big Shot using the Chevron embossing folder. Then I adhered them to my base card.
  4. I used a piece of left over designer paper and the die cut from Apothecary and run that through my Big Shot. To get the back up piece, I traced the die cut and cut out by hand.
  5. Using my Early Espresso marker I colored the stamp from Loving thoughts onto Whisper White card stock. Then cut to make it look like a Ribbon.
  6. Stamped Happy Birthday on the inside using Early Espresso.
  7. Next I run the Linen thread through one of the brown buttons and glued to the front of my card.

This was a easy card to make, simple and clean. I have a hard time making cards for the men in my family. My new year resolution is to practice more.

Thanks for stopping by I hoped you enjoyed my project today. As always feel free to leave a comment. I enjoy reading them.

Sparkle Snowflake Thank You

Yesterday, I made a special thank you card for my Niece and Great Niece for their lovely and thoughtful Christmas presents. I haven't been around them much over the years, but this summer we spent some time together and they surprised me this Christmas.

Here is the Card

This view shows a better look at all the bling and Snow Flakes.

Supplies needed

Card Stock                      Old Olive, Elegant Eggplant and Whisper White
Ink                                   Old Olive, Elegant Eggplant
Stamp Set                        Snowflake Soiree
Punch                               11/4 Circle Punch
Accessories                     Basic Rhinestones for Bling, Circular scissor plus

Cut your base card 3" x 6", score at 3" and fold
Next cut your 1st layer 23/4" x 23/4" and attach to base card.
Then I used the Circular Scissors to make a 21/4" circle stamped that with the medium snow flake from Snowflake Soiree stamp set with Old Olive Ink.
Next I stamped the small snowflake with Elegant Eggplant and punch it out using the 11/4" punch.
Next I adhered the large circle to my base card and added Rhinestones.
Then I adhered the top circle with stampin dimensionals and added more Rhinestones for Bling.

I am mailing it off today, and can't wait to see if they like it. Since I made this using snowflakes I am also entering in the first challenge for 2013 over at the new LNS Weekly Challenge Blog.

Thanks for stopping by and as always leave a comment and let me know what you think.
