SU Stars December Blog Hop

Welcome to the last Blog Hop of the from SU Stars for 2012. This year has gone by rather quickly for me. This month's theme was Holiday/Winter. I decided to make something I haven't done in a long time a Easel Card. I love the ease and simplicity of this card.

If you came from , Denise Foor blog then have landed in the right place wasn't her card just wonderful. If you want to start at the beginning go to http://su-stars.blogspot.com/.

Let's get started!! Here is my Easel Card.

Supplies:
Card Stock                     Gumball Green, Cherry Cobbler, Early Espresso, Whisper White
Ink                                  Gumball Green, Cherry Cobbler, Early Espresso
Stamp set                        More Merry Messages
Ribbon                            Satin Stitched (Gumball Green)
Designer Series Paper    Festival of Prints paper stack
Embossing Folder          Petals a Plenty
Markers                          Cherry Cobbler, Gumball Green, Crumb Cake
Accessories                    Red Sticky Tape, Stampin Dimensionals, Big Shot Machine and Basic Pearls
I will give details on how made my card, but there is a wonderful video on yu-tube that explains it much better than I. I have posted that below. You also can go to Splitcoaster's and type in easel card and get information on different sizes as well. I chose to do a vertical card, changing up the sizes a little to get the effect I wanted.

Directions:
  1. First cut a piece of Whisper White card stock 41/4" x 11, this will be the base or easel.
  2. Then I scored at 5 1/2, 8 1/4 and folded on the crease line with my bone folder.
  3. I cut a piece of Whisper White card stock 4 1/4" x 5 1/2" for the card front.
  4. Next I cut the layers for the card front, 1st layer  4" x 5 1/4" in Gumball Green, 2nd 3 5/8" x 4 7/8"
  5. in Whisper White, 3rd layer 3 1/4" x 2 1/4" in Cherry Cobbler, 4th layer 2 1/2" x 3" in Whisper White.
  6. Then I cut another piece designer series paper 2 1/2" x 3 1/2"
  7. Now I cut 4 pieces of card stock for that a piece of Whisper White 2 3/4" x 4 1/4" and ran that thru the Big Shot as well using the Petals a Plenty embossing folder.
  8. Then I cut a piece of Gumball Green 1 3/4" x 4 1/4", a piece of Cherry Cobber 1 3/8" x 4" and last Whisper White 1 1/8" x 3 3/4" and stamped my message on that piece.

After you get all the piece's cut out and stamped, you now start assembling the card front. I ran piece of the Whisper White thru the Big Shot using my Petals a Plenty embossing folder. Stamped my imagine on another piece. Then glued them all together and added some Ribbon.

Then I glued the pieces onto the base or inside of the card. For some added support and a little Bling I added Pearls on each side of the bottom pieces. Then I put sticky tape on the small piece of my easel the 2 1/4 x 4 1/4. Remove red film and place the top part of my face card onto it. Now you should be able to open and stand up your easel using the Pearls and Message.

I hope you have enjoyed my card for you today and now it is time to hop on over to B.Jayne at her blog http://jaynestamps.com, I know you will love what she has done for you.

Thanks for stopping by. I love comments, so be sure to leave one. I hope you too find some time to create something fun for yourself...Enjoy!

Here is the video in case my instructions are not clear.

September SUStars Blog Hop

Welcome to the September SU Stars Blog Hop! This month we're featuring Scrapping Ideas inspired projects! Enjoy the hop and the amazing creations that the SU Stars have come up with.

I'm stop number 12 on the SU Stars Hop and I'm glad you hopped in! I'll help you "hop along" from blog to blog where you'll find great ideas for Scrapbooking paper projects from the Stampin Up! Should you hop off course, simply start at the beginning by clicking on  http://www.addalittledazzle.com , the fabulous Monica Weaver and you'll be back on track!

I have to admit I don't scrapbook much, but this month I was willing to give it a try.  My son has started Chef School and I thought it would be nice to start some pages for him.
Supplies used:
Card Stock                       Cherry Cobbler, Always Artichoke and Crumb Cake
Stamp Pads                       Versa Mark, Soft Suede
Markers                            Cherry Cobbler, Creamy Carmel(for the crust of bread and pie,  So Saffron,
Pretty in Pink(for the hot dog)and Lucky Limeade
Ribbon                              Early Express (from the Holiday Mini)
Stamp Set                          Voile and Voile to go(both retired)

I stamped with Versa Mark some of the food from Voile to go stamp set and then used my markers to color some of them in. Posted a picture of my son The Chef to be and his first creation he made me at hope his Apple Bird. It is so stinkin cute. Then I thought my page needed something so I made 2 magnets from the Voile to go set. I think they turned out well.  I hope you enjoyed my mother's pride in her son and wanting to priase him. He starts his next of classes soon come back and see what else he has cooked up for me.

Now onto Veronica Miller at http://bluegrassstamperstudio.blogspot.com. I know she has something wonderful for you.

Creative Sketches - Masked Technique

This week's challenge on Creative Sketches is to use the Masked Technique.  Enjoy my project
and come on over and join us in this challenge by entering your project today!

My Because I Care  card was fun to make -- sailing the seas is where I would like to be!

The masking technique is fun and can be used on any card, scrapbook page or 3-D item.

To create this card:

I stamped the main image on regular typing paper and cut it out as well as stamping it on Whisper White card stock in Basic Black ink.

I punched out a circle using the 2-1/2" Circle Punch.

I placed the cut out image over the stamped image on the card stock with non-permanent.

After attaching the ship, I placed the "hole" from punching out the 2-1/2" circle over the stamped ship and sponged on Daffodil Delight ink around the ship.

To finish the "shining moon" effect, I sponged on Cajun Craze around the top of the circle.

After completing the "shining moon", I placed the circle, previously punched out, over it and sponged on Bashful Blue and Marina Mist to create an early evening ambiance.

To finish the seascape, I masked the ship again and inked up the bottom of the ship in Basic Black, stamped off once and stamped more water.  This step was repeated about ten times to create the ocean.

I layered the stamped Whisper White* card stock to Bashful Blue card stock*, layered it to Basic Black card stock* and attached all to the base card.

*Corners were punched with the Ticket Corner Punch.

To complete the card, I stamped a frame from the Four Frames stamp set (in the new 2011-2012 Idea Book and Catalog) in Marina Mist and the sentiment from the retiring Hostess Set Because I Care and attached to the base card using Stampin' Dimensionals.

VC Rocks June Blog Hop

Welcome to the VC Rocks June Blog Hop

Thank you for visiting my blog today.  If you are following the Blog Hop, you came from Holly's (& The Dog) wonderful blog, InkPaperStamps.  If you are a regular visitor or just happened along, you can start the Blog Hop at the beginning by going here.

The Big Shot Die Cutting Machine

Can you guess what our theme is this month?  Yep, the Big Shot Die Cutting Machine.  I absolutely love this machine and all the wonderful things that can be done with it.  You can use Sizzix dies in as well as many other competitor's dies.  It cuts paper, material, wood, and the list goes on.

For my project today, I made a basket out of the Fancy Favor Bigz XL Die.  It makes the cutest little bag or in my case a basket.  It is great to use as a party favor for a kid's party, a wedding shower, a baby shower or even a family dinner like Thanksgiving!

As a Stampin' Up! Demonstrator I was able to place a pre-order from the New 2011-2012 Idea Book & Catalog.  Can you tell what I ordered?  Hint:  two (2) stamp sets -- Delicate Doilies and Four Frames.  Aren't they great?

Card Stock:
  Perfect Plum (6x12 and 5/8x9)
  Whisper White (5-1/2x4-1/2)
  Pear Pizazz (small piece)
Stamp Sets: Delicate Doilies and Four Frames
Stamp Pad(s): Perflect Plum
Accessories: Snail Adhesive, Basic Pearls, Stampin' Dimensionals, Sticky Tape, Fancy Favor XL Bigz Die,
  and the Decorative Label Punch

This cute little basket easily holds four 3"x3" cards with envelopes.  I just had to make a few to go with it.

You can't really tell by this picture, but I used Basic Pearls and Basic Rhinestones.  Following are close-ups of the cards.

Okay, I know, you are wondering where the Basic Pearls are. Right?  Well, I put one in the center of the Perfect Plum circle and eight pearls in each flower around the center.  If you look REALLY hard, you can see them.

Yeah, you can see the Basic Rhinestones on this one.

I hope you have enjoyed the projects I made for you today.  And, as you leave my blog, please hop on over to the fantastic blog of Kym Schwinkendorf, Artful Imagination.

Remember if you get lost or turned around, you can always start at the beginning on our home blog, VC Rocks!

Welcome to SU Stars April's Blog Hop

It is that time again for SU Stars monthly Blog Hop that is happening this weekend April 16/17. The start time is Saturday morning at 7am PT/8am MT/9am CT/10am ET and the posts will be up thur Sunday night at Midnight.

If you started at the beginning then you arrived here from the very talented Elizabeth Harris, at her blog http://elizabethloves2stamp.blogspot.com/  then you are right on track. If you get lost along the way then go back to the beginning at http://su-stars.blogspot.com/ where you will find the list of blogs.

This month we are focusing on anything but a card. I chose to make a birdhouse, that I cased from Paper Craft Planet, I just loved how easy the tutorial that  Lyn Bernatovich did.  I love making this so much that I will make my own tutorial soon.

Here is the front my project:

Here is a side view

Supplies:

DSP                              Springtime Vintage from Occ Mini
Punch                            2 Step Bird, Scallop Circle
Markers                        Daffodil Delight, So Saffron, black,
Old Olive, Pretty in Pink, and Rose Red
Accessories                  Rosettes, Basic Pearls, Chantilly Lace

I cut a piece of card stock 4x6 and marked the center of the 4 inch side at 2 inch and down 2 1/2 on each side and this is your template for the bird house front and back. Then I cut 2 pieces of double sided DSP 4x6 and then place template over both pieces and cut. To make the sides cut 2 dsp pieces 2x3 1/2. Score at 1/2, 1, and 1 1/2 inches.  Fold to create one mountain folding the center add two valley folds on either side. Your Accordion should look like a W if folded correctly.
Punch out the front panel with large or extra-large circle punch. I placed a piece of toulle on the reverse side of the front window and taped in place. To decorate the bottom of the window I added my bird and flowers. Added lace bow and pearls. Then I assembled the sides of the birdhouse. I love the way it came out.

Now on to the very talented Loni Holt who not only made fabulous projects for us today over at http://loniholt.blogspot.com/.   I just know she has something wonderful to show you. If you have enjoyed what I have made for you today leave me a comment, I love reading each one.

The Fancy Fold Tutorial as I Promised

Here is the tutorial I promised of the card I made for SU-Stars Blog Hop. This was my first attempt at a Fancy Fold card and it was fast easy and fun.

SPECIAL NOTE!

This is NOT my original design for the fold on the card I CASED it from Patrice Herrera at http://mylittlepatchofdirt.blogspot.com. I also believe you can find the original on Splitcoaststampers or in Fancy Fold CD over at Technique Junkies. I did design and decorate this finished card. I adjusted some of the measurements to fit my theme.

It is only right to give credit where credit is due.

Here is the Outside
 Here is the Inside

Now onto my tutorial:

Supplies Needed:

1 piece of Old Olive Card Stock - 8 1/2 x 5 1/2
2 pieces of card stock 1 in Perfect Plum and 1 in Springtime Vintage Designer Series Paper (DSP) -5 1/4 x 1 7/8
2 pieces of card stock 1 in Perfect Plum and 1 in Springtime Vintage DSP - 5 x 1 5/8
1 piece of card stock of Perfect Plum 5 x 4
1 piece of Springtime Vintage DSP 4 7/8 x 3 ¾
1 piece of Whisper White Card Stock - 2 7/8 x 5/8
1 piece of Old Olive Card Stock - 3 7/8 x 6/8
1 piece of Springtime Vintage DSP - 4 x 5/8
1 piece of Perfect Plum card stock 4 1/2 x 1 7/8
1 piece of Perfect Plum card stock 4 ½ x 3 ½ (for photo)
1 piece of scrap Old Olive to make the leaves
SU Elements of Style Stamp Set
SU stamp pads; Old Olive, Perfect Plum
1 Medium Rosette
VersaMark
Glue Dots, Red sticky tape
1 Perfect Plum Marker (I used to color the Rosette)
1 small Basic Pearl
Clear Embossing Powder
Bone Folder

Instructions: For inside Panel

Cut a 8.5 x 11 piece of card stock in half 4 1/4 x 5 1/2

Score at 2 1/8 and 4 1/4 use the bone folder to smooth edges.

Prepare cut card stock and DSP by sponging the edges and the layers  for the outside and inside folds.

Cut  2 pieces of card stock 1 in Perfect Plum and 1 in Springtime Vintage Designer Series Paper (DSP) 5 1/4 x 1 7/8

2 pieces of card stock 1 in Perfect Plum and 1 in Springtime Vintage DSP - 5 x  1 5/8

Use VersaMark and Perfect Plum to stamp the inside of the  Perfect Plum panel with the Rose stamp from the Elements of Style Stamp Set and then use clear embossing powder and heat with heat gun and then set aside before attaching it to the DSP.

Cut  1 piece of card stock of Perfect Plum 5 x 4 and 1 piece of Springtime Vintage DSP 4 7/8 x 3 ¾

Attach the inside large Perfect Plum piece of card stock to the Springtime vintage DSP piece then attach to the center panel.

Cut 1 piece of Perfect Plum card stock 4 ½ x 3 ½ (for photo). Attach that to the DSP.

Now for the Outside Panel:

1 piece of Whisper White Card Stock - 2 7/8 x 5/8

1 piece of Old Olive Card Stock - 3 7/8 x 6/8
1 piece of Springtime Vintage DSP - 4 x 5/8
1 piece of Perfect Plum card stock 4 1/2 x 1 7/8

Stamp the sentiment on the Whisper White piece of card stock and cut it into an arrow. (Remember to sponge ink on all of the pieces of card stock for the front panel. Cut the Old Olive piece into an arrow shape as well. Assemble so that all pieces go on top of the Perfect Plum/DSP piece, smallest to largest.

I punched out little leaves of Old Olive with my Big Shot and the Little Leaves die. Then I dyed one of the medium Rossettes from the Occ Mini with my Perfect Plum Marker. Then attached Rosette and leaves to Whisper White sentiment piece with a two glue dots.

I then attached assembled panel to the front panel. I used  red sticky tape strips to secure the right half of the panel. Place this piece about half way down the outside panel or where ever you would like the sentiment to be. I found using sticky tape held better than glue dots.

That should do it. The fun thing about making this style of  card is that you can use it for almost any occasion. I know I will be making more of them for my friends and family.

Welcome to SU Stars Blog Tour 4

It's that time again for SU Stars monthly Blog Tour that is happening this weekend February 19/20. The start time is Saturday morning at 7am PT/8am MT/9am CT/10am ET and the posts will be up thur Sunday night at Midnight.

If you started at the beginning then you arrived here from the very talented Diana Soling at http://handmadebydiana.typepad.com/ and you are right on track. If you get lost along the way then go back to the beginning at http://su-stars.blogspot.com/ where you will find the list of blogs.

This month we are focusing on items from the Occasions Mini and Sale-A-Bration's Mini.  I chose to make my card from the Occasions Mini. I love everything in the mini so it was hard to choose just one, so I didn't.

I wanted to create something simple and elegant and I hope you like how it came out.

I am a new demonstrator so I am learning new things all the time and this week I tried a technique called Neutral Shadows from technique junkie.  I used the new Framed Tulips embossing folder to add depth and texture.  I stamped the image with Versa Mark, craft whisper white and then sprinkled clear embossing powder over the image and  then I heat embossed . Then I took a brush (or stencil brush) and stippled the neutral ink(basic grey) on and around the embossed image, following the lines of the design.   I took some of Su basic pearls and dyed them to match using a sponge dauber with basic grey ink for a little Bling! Added some Satin Grey ribbon(retired).

Here is what you will need:

Card Stock:  Basic Grey, Whisper White
Ink Pads:      Basic Grey, Versa Mark
Stamp sets:  Because I care and Afterthoughts(from the SAB)
Clear embossing powder, adhesive, glue dots, Basic Pearls, ribbon
Framed Tulip embossing folder from the new Occasion's Mini

Leave me a comment if you like, I enjoy reading what everyone says.  Now onto Marta Gomez, at http://www.stampartpapel.com/.  I know Marta  has something wonderful planned for you.

PPA-Elements of Style Challenge

This week's challenge  was Elements of Style---Bows challenge at Pals Paper Arts this week! How easy is that! Just make your card, keep it simple, and add a bow!  My inspiration was a card I already made for another challenge, I cas my own card and added a bow that I made using Ann Schach cardboard bow maker. With my Fibromyalgia sometimes it is hard to make smaller bows and I thought I would give her bow maker a whirl and it helped and I love it. So thank you Ann.  Ever sometimes look a your card and think something was missing, well I did and I love this card but I love it evern more with the bow. So here it is and let me know which one you prefer.
